· "Monkey King", a Forceful Competitor ·

On Feb. 11, 2003, accompanied by Mr. Kong Qingpeng, director of Sports Administration of Jiangsu province, Mr. Chen Zhenning, secretary of municipal Party committee and Mayor Liu Yongzhong, Mr. Li Zhijian, secretary of the Party committee of General Administration of Sports and Chairman of All-China Sports Federation (ACSF), and his colleagues investigated the implementation of physical training and public body-building project in our city. According to Mr. Li, the image of Monkey King is one of the most competitive candidates for becoming the auspicious object of 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

After visiting Jiangsu Marine Training Base in Liandao, International Exhibition Center, the gate of Flower-Fruit Mountain and Hengli Public Body-building Center, Mr. Li Zhijian said that as a famous seaport city in China, Lianyungang has made salient achievements in carrying out public athletic activities. From the perspective of a person in the organizing committee of 2008 Olympic Games with the authority to decide on the auspicious object, Mr. Li pointed out that Monkey King was very competitive.
